Introduction
Rene Yang, chief partner of SGLA Law Firm Guangzhou office, graduated from Zhejiang University and Sun Yat-sen University with BA and LLM degrees, respectively. She was trained in London for one year as a participant of the British government’s Lord Chancellor’s Training Scheme for Young Chinese Lawyers during 2004-2005. Yang has practiced as a PRC lawyer since 1999 and has been registered as a foreign lawyer with the Law Society of Hong Kong SAR since 2007. Yang acts as the deputy director of the Belt and Road International Lawyers Association Guangzhou Centre, as well as the director of the Guangdong Belt and Road Legal Service Research Centre.
Yang has rich experience in legal services relating to corporate finance, investment and dispute resolution, especially those with cross-border features. She is the longstanding legal counsel for the Guangzhou Baiyun Airport Phase III Development Project, the largest reconstruction and further-development project in mainland China’s civil aviation history. She also assisted Hong Kong-listed Yuexiu Transport to issue the first Panda bond of China’s stock exchange bond market. With many financial institutions in the Hong Kong SAR, Yang participated in various types of cross-border financing projects, some of which have innovative and complicated structures.
