After setting up its office in September last year, Hong Kong-based law firm MB Kemp is now establishing a presence in London to focus on cross-border corporate law, capital market transactions, commercial litigation and international arbitration and law.

The law firm’s London office will be led by partner Marco Pocci, a former energy partner at Stephenson Harwood in Hong Kong. Partners Brian Kotick and Salah Mattoo, former associates at Winston & Strawn in London, will co-head the international arbitration team there.

Pocci specialises in energy and infrastructure, and focuses on international cross-border M&A and private equity transactions, while Kotick and Mattoo focus on international commercial disputes, particularly commercial arbitration and investment treaty disputes.

Lai Voon Keat, the firm’s managing partner in Hong Kong, said the new office offered a great opportunity to explore new ways of operating an international firm to serve clients. “Covid-19 is a once-in-a-lifetime disruptor and forces everyone to re-examine how they used to do things,” he said.

“Our immediate focus is to deepen our ties with our business network and continue to grow our firm so that we are able to build a globalised institution that can address the global needs of our clients.”
