Usha Amonkar, the vice president of legal affairs at Mahindra & Mahindra, announced her retirement at the end of March. She will be succeeded by Nirmala Gill.
Amonkar worked at Mahindra for eight-and-a-half years, during which she handled several key transactions and was responsible for the company’s entire IP portfolio.
Amonkar started her career in 1974 with an eight-year stint in Bombay High Court, working under practising advocate Justice Ashok Agarwal. She subsequently joined Proctor & Gamble, where she worked for 11 years before becoming the general manager of legal affairs at Shaw Wallace. After this, she worked with the Modi Group for eight years on media and entertainment matters before joining Mahindra.
