He specialises in advising international companies on M&A, joint ventures and corporate governance, with particular experience in the manufacturing, extractives, pharmaceuticals and technology sectors.

“The addition of an M&A partner in Asia-Pacific with significant India experience means we can respond to client demand effectively and efficiently in all three regions,” said White & Case partner John Reiss, head of the firm’s global M&A practice in London.

“India is an increasingly relevant destination for foreign investment, and an important investor in EMEA and the US,” said Reiss. “This means high demand for firms that have India experience and offer cross-border M&A capabilities across Asia-Pacific, EMEA [Europe Middle East and Africa] and the Americas.”

The firm said Maity’s experience in India advising clients based in the country, and those investing there on their corporate and M&A matters, was a valuable asset for White & Case, which is looking to expand its practice in the country.

“His addition follows the arrival of India-focused capital markets partner Rahul Guptan in Singapore in May” said White & Case partner Dipen Sabharwal, head of the India Country Group in London.

“This demonstrates our commitment to the continued development of our India team, and our ambition to be the pre-eminent international law firm for India-related cross-border legal services.”
