Li Qiang (known to many as “LQ”) is an Asia co-senior partner at DLA Piper, a global law firm with 300 lawyers in seven Asian offices, 200 of whom are based in Greater China. As a corporate lawyer, Qiang counsels international strategic and private equity investors, especially from the US, in China. He also counsels Chinese corporate and financial investors around the world in their investments and acquisitions. Qiang has served as a counsel to the board of AmCham Shanghai. As a Shanghai native, he prides himself in his “globalist” approach (as opposed to a “China exceptionalist” approach) to the firm’s businesses and its many clients, and believes this is one of the most important values for counsels as they serve their clients. He is a relationship partner and a trusted adviser to some of the firm’s most important clients in the region. He is also a passionate promoter in China of the Chinese and US legal industries, and is keen to share what he considers as “secrets” of the trade with younger lawyers. Qiang founded the Global History Club in January 2015 in Shanghai.
