Jan Buschmann

Introduction

Jan Buschmann is an international counsel based in the Hong Kong office of Debevoise & Plimpton, and a member of the Corporate Department and Insurance M&A Group.

Recommended by Chambers Asia-Pacific (2023) and recognised as a Rising Star and “an expert in insurance regulations,” by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific – Greater China (2024) and The Legal 500 Asia Pacific (2023), Buschmann has extensive experience advising on insurance transactions and regulation. He also has particular expertise in complex reinsurance arrangements and regulatory capital issues. Buschmann is admitted to practise as a solicitor in Hong Kong and England & Wales.

Buschmann holds law degrees from the University of Cologne, the University of Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne) and the University of London, as well as a doctorate in law from the University of Bonn.

Buschmann speaks German, French and intermediate Mandarin.
