Raja Bose leads the firm’s commercial disputes and international arbitration practice in Asia and has more than 20 years of experience in international dispute resolution having worked in both London and Singapore. Ralph Voltmer is chair of Covington’s India practice and a partner in the firm’s corporate group. Ralph has been active in India for over 20 years working with companies such as Reliance Industries, Reliance Jio Infocomm, Piramal Enterprises, UPL, Mindtree, SpiceJet, the Tata Group, OmniActive Health Technologies, Sterlite Technologies, Balkrishna Industries and Jindal Steel. He advises clients on cross-border and US domestic transactions, including mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, and debt financings. Ralph is actively involved in the entrepreneur community in Bengaluru where Covington hosts quarterly workshops for entrepreneurs. He is a member of the board of directors of the US-India Business Council. His recent significant work includes:

  • Supported a venture capital arm of Reliance Industries, Reliance Strategic Business Ventures, in leading a US$26 million series B investment (with an additional US$60 million committed) in skyTran, Inc, which is developing a futuristic personal rapid transit system using its patented MagLev technology.
  • Represented Piramal Enterprises in the US$490 million sale of a 20% interest in Piramal Pharma to CA Clover Intermediate II Investments, an affiliated entity of CAP V Mauritius, an investment fund managed and advised by affiliated entities of The Carlyle Group Inc; and the US$950 million sale of Decision Resources Group to Clarivate Analytics.
  • Represented Reliance Jio Infocomm in connection with a unique, long-term strategic relationship with Microsoft aimed at accelerating the digital transformation of the Indian economy and society through the development of data centres in India by Jio from which it will offer next-generation cloud-based solutions, including compute, storage and productivity, using Microsoft’s Azure platform.
  • Advising Reliance Retail in connection with its ongoing investments in each of Kai OS and NetraDyne, Inc.
  • Representing Individual Learning in connection with its acquisition of Vida Systems, Inc.

Ralph received his law degree from Georgetown University. He has a Master’s degree from the University of California, Riverside and obtained his undergraduate degree from Wheaton College.

Pallavi Wahi serves as co-managing partner of the US (covering 24 offices) at K&L Gates. She is the managing partner of the Seattle office, chair of the Firmwide Diversity Committee and co-chair of the firmwide India practice.

As an experienced litigator, Pallavi practises complex commercial litigation with an emphasis on corporate and intellectual property litigation. She works regularly on complex contractual breach matters and has also represented Fortune 500 companies in plaintiff or defence counsel capacity. Pallavi also acts as global coordinating counsel for litigation. In this role, she has developed litigation programmes for clients to drive efficiencies of costs and consistency of approach across multiple engagements and jurisdictions.

Pallavi has been named to the International A-List by India Business Law Journal in 2019 and 2020 as well. She also has been selected to the Indian Corporate Counsel Association’s Most Trusted Corporate Lawyers list. Pallavi is also ranked in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business in the “Litigation: General commercial” category in Washington state; again selected for inclusion in the Puget Sound Business Journal’s “Power 100” spotlighting the 100 most influential business leaders in the Puget Sound area; named to the Washington Super Lawyers list; named to the “IP Stars” list in the US and Washington categories; and included in Acritas Stars, a large database of client-nominated, stand-out lawyers in private practice. Pallavi has significant experience with the business environment in India. She grew up in India, went to college there, and speaks fluent Hindi. She is well versed with the culture and business environment of the country. Pallavi received her BA from St Stephen’s College, New Delhi. She also received her BA from the University of Cambridge Tripos Law, Magdalene College, Cambridge University in 1999 – automatic conversion to an MA.
