Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has hired Tony Chow to lead the contentious insolvency practice in its Hong Kong office.

Chow, a former Hong Kong-based director of restructuring and insolvency at King & Wood Mallesons, specialises in restructuring and insolvency-related dispute resolution, with extensive experience handling commercial and corporate contentious issues. He can represent clients as a solicitor-advocate in the Hong Kong courts and international arbitration proceedings.

Last year, Chow advised a consortium of investors, led by HNA Aviation Group, on the debt restructuring of Hong Kong Airlines, involving a strategic investment of HKD3 billion (USD384 million).

Dan Anderson, a partner and head of the firm’s restructuring and capital solutions practice in Asia, said Chow’s addition came at an opportune time, as there was an increasing demand for restructuring and insolvency legal services.
