Introduction

David Li is a senior partner at Shanghai Landing Law Offices. He is also a director of the firm’s department of international trade and investment. Li earned histhe Bachelor of Economics from Nankai University and Master of Laws from the East China University of Political Science and Law. He was selected into the first batch of the Shanghai Foreign-Related Legal Talent Pool of the Shanghai Law Society and has been admitted as an international lawyer by the Shanghai Bar Association. He is a part-time professor at the East China University of Science and Technology. Li also acts as an arbitrator in the Guangzhou, Hainan, Nanchang, and Nanjing Arbitration Commissions. He obtained his Legal Professional Qualification in 2002, and began to practise law in 2006. He practised with Dacheng Dentons and Zhongyin Law Firm.

Li was selected to attend the Lord Chancellor’s Training Scheme for Chinese lawyers organised by the UK’s Ministry of Justice and the Law Society of England and Wales, participating in the 10-month training programme, for which only 13 lawyers were chosen. He also joined lawyer training programmes in the US, and became fluent in practising law in English (Did he become fluent in American law or in practising law in English?). Li usually represents overseas and domestic clients in dealing with international trade, trade agencies, international investment, maritime, construction and international financial settlement, including negotiation, mediation, arbitration and litigation. He has clients in the aviation, chemistry, engineering, mineral and finance industries.

Li has received considerable recognition from clients for his professionalism and diligence. He was awarded as one of the “Rising Stars” and “Growth Drivers” by China Business Law Journal in 2023.
