Introduction

Bob Mo joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2005 and currently serves as a managing partner of the Corporate Department (Southern China) and a managing partner of the Guangzhou Office.

He holds dual qualifications as a Chinese lawyer and an Australian CPA. His primary practice areas include M&A, capital markets, banking and finance, and private equity investment.

Mo has extensive experience advising multinational corporations on inbound investments and leading Chinese enterprises on outbound transactions. Several of his lead matters have been recognised as “Deals of the Year” by prominent legal publications. He has also led teams in numerous financial institution establishment, restructuring, merger, asset securitisation and IPO projects. In addition, he has significant experience in distressed asset and special situation transactions.

He serves as external counsel to multiple well-known listed companies. He possesses a deep understanding of capital markets in mainland China, Hong Kong and the US, and provides integrated legal advice across fund investment, pre-IPO structuring, domestic and overseas listings, and major asset restructurings and M&A. His industry experience spans high technology, semiconductors, cross-border e-commerce, internet, biopharmaceuticals, education, consumer products, catering, real estate and manufacturing.

Mo has been repeatedly ranked by Chambers Global, Chambers Asia-Pacific and Chambers Greater China Region as a Leading Lawyer in corporate and M&A. He was also recognised by The Legal 500 as a Highly Recommended Lawyer in corporate and M&A for 2023 and 2024. In addition, China Business Law Journal named him to the A-List – the Visionaries of China’s Legal Profession (2023) and the Growth Drivers of China’s Legal Profession (2024).

He was selected for the national legal talent programme in foreign-related business by the All China Lawyers Association (2013), recognised as one of the “Top 1000 Legal Talents in Foreign-related Business” by the Ministry of Justice of China (2018) and named a Leading Foreign-related Lawyer in Guangdong province by the Guangdong Lawyers Association (2018). Currently, Mo also serves as a supervisor for LLM students at the School of Law, Sun Yat-sen University, and the School of Law, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies.
