Bill Ye

Introduction

Bill Ye has more than 25 years of professional experience in the field of Chinese tax law, with particular expertise in resolving major tax disputes between enterprises and tax authorities, as well as providing innovative and implementable comprehensive solutions for clients’ emerging or complex projects. His client portfolio spans multiple industries, including TMT, manufacturing, retail, finance, real estate, pharmaceuticals and entertainment. He has also served as a legal consultant or expert adviser to financial and tax authorities for years.

Bill is a director of the Economic Law Research Association as well as the Financial and Tax Law Research Association of the China Law Association, a director of the Finance and Tax Law Research Association of the Shanghai Municipal Law Society, a senior researcher of the China Tax Institute of Large Business, a member of the sixth academic committee of the China International Taxation Research Institute and an academic member of the Beijing Taxation Institute. He also acts as an external tutor at several prestigious universities, including Peking University and Fudan University, and is active in academia. He frequently writes articles to share his opinions on taxation legislation and complicated cases, and provides suggestions to taxpayers and policymakers.

From 2016, Bill has been continuously ranked as a “First-class Lawyer” and “Leading Lawyer” in Tax (PRC) by the Legal 500 and Chambers Asia Pacific. He is the only lawyer in the field of taxation honoured as one of “The Visionaries (PRC Law)” in the first-year selection of China Business Law Journal. He was recognised by Asian Legal Business as the “Regional Managing Partner of the Year – East China” at its 2024 3rd China Regional Law Awards. In 2025, Bill was named a “Highly Regarded Lawyer” in Tax Disputes and Private Client by International Tax Review World Tax. In 2025, he was also awarded as one of the “Lexpress Luminary Lawyers 20: Taxation”.

Before joining Anli Partners in 2025, Bill worked at King & Wood Mallesons and Deloitte Shanghai as a tax partner.
