Introduction

Li Lianjun is a senior partner of Reed Smith, a well-known international law firm. He is qualified as a solicitor in Hong Kong, England and Wales.

Li has extensive experience in dealing with legal issues and disputes relating to international trade, commercial transactions, transportation, shipping, cross-border investments, shareholder agreements, bond insurance litigation and arbitration. His clients include well-known domestic and foreign enterprises and organisations.

He is also an experienced international commercial and maritime arbitrator. Li became a senior member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in 2002. He is also one of the first arbitrators on the Law Society of Hong Kong’s roster.

Li serves as a member of the Hebei Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and a visiting professor to some well-known law schools. He is also a member of the Advisory Committee on Promotion of Arbitration of the Department of Justice of Hong Kong, a member of the Hong Kong Electoral Affairs Commission elected by the legal functional constituency, and a member of the 14th National People’s Congress Election Conference in Hong Kong. From April 2016 to March 2022, he served as a member of the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board appointed by the Hong Kong government and its maritime developments, promotion and manpower committees.

He is a member of the Supporting Members Liaison Committee (Asia Pacific) of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association, the Transport and Logistics Committee of the Law Society of Hong Kong and the Procedure Committee of the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration.

Li has been recognised by Chambers, Legal 500, and Who’s Who Legal as a leading lawyer in the shipping transportation industry for many years. He is also listed by China Business Law Journal as one of the elite 100 lawyers (Foreign Firms) under the A-List.

Li has been in Hong Kong for nearly 30 years. Before that, he taught at the Dalian Maritime University for four years, and also studied and worked at the World Maritime University and Stockholm University in Sweden for four years.
