Wayne Wang

Introduction

Wayne Wang is a partner of Zhong Lun Law Firm in Guangzhou and Hong Kong, co-head of Zhong Lun’s Energy and Power Practice Group, and a qualified lawyer in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong SAR, and Australia.

He used to serve as a senior associate at the Shanghai and Hong Kong offices of Allens, a top-tier Australian law firm, for nine years. In 2014, he joined Zhong Lun as a partner. His practice focuses on cross-border M&A, China outbound investment, and energy and resources.

Wang has represented many multinational enterprises from Europe, the US and Australia in their investment and M&A in China. Since 2007, he has assisted numerous SOEs and Chinese listed companies in completing overseas investment and M&A, covering jurisdictions and regions including Hong Kong SAR, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Central Asia, Australia and New Zealand, Europe, Central and North America, and Africa, and involving industries such as energy, infrastructure, mining, manufacturing and pharmaceuticals.

He has also represented many Chinese energy enterprises in the procurement of overseas liquefied natural gas (LNG), investment in overseas oil and gas assets, joint venture LNG terminals, cross-border bulk commodity trade, and overseas new energy investment projects including photovoltaic, wind power, energy storage and waste to energy, and he has assisted in resolving disputes arising from cross-border LNG trade.

Wang has been listed in the leading lawyer rankings of mainstream international legal rating agencies on 25 occasions, including: The Legal 500 (seven inclusions); Specially Recommended Lawyer in China (Energy & Infrastructure); Asia Law Profiles (six inclusions), Notable Lawyer in China (M&A); International Financial Law Review (six inclusions), Highly Regarded Lawyer in China, and Tier 1 Lawyer in Guangdong (M&A); Chambers Asia-Pacific (six inclusions), Tier 2 Lawyer in Guangdong (Corporate/Commercial).

Wang serves as Deputy Director of the Cross-Border Finance and Capital Markets Professional Committee of Guangdong Lawyers Association; Guest Lecturer at the International College of Jinan University; and Off-Campus Supervisor for Master’s Students at the Law School of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies.
