Paula Liu

Introduction

Paula Liu is a key member of Han Kun Law Office’s private equity and transactional department. Before joining Han Kun in 2018, Liu was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis, a leading US law firm, and also worked at Clifford Chance, a leading London-based international law firm, for over 12 years. Liu has advised various multinational companies, international private equity funds and Chinese companies on their investment into and operations in China, in-bound and outbound buyout acquisitions, investments, joint ventures, disposals and strategic

transactions overseas and across a broad range of business sectors. Over the years, Liu has accumulated a wealth of industry experience and has a robust skillset. Her in-depth understanding of the legal market, extensive experience in PE and M&A deals, and exceptional ability in handling difficult and dynamic transactional issues has won her trust from some of the most reputable and seasoned investors and companies in China.

Her clients include leading USD and RMB PE funds, highly sophisticated multinational companies, and various Chinese unicorns and upcoming companies. Liu is well recognised for her ability to handle complicated transactions and situations. She is equipped with a top-tier legal education background both in the US and in China. She has the rare combination of legal knowledge of two legal systems, and practice experience in both countries.
