Nafisa Nihmat

Introduction

Nafisa Nihmat holds a bachelor’s degree in Law from East China University of Political Science and Law, a master’s degree in Economic Law from the same institution, and a master’s degree in Comparative Law from Emory University in the US. She currently serves as an equity partner at Zhong Lun Law Firm’s Shanghai Office.

Additionally, she is an arbitrator of the Shanghai Arbitration Commission and the Hangzhou Arbitration Commission; a member of the expert panel of the Pudong New Area Bureau of Justice; a director of the Finance and Taxation Law Research Association under the Shanghai Law Society; a member of the Bankruptcy and Non-performing Assets Committee of the Shanghai Lawyers Association; and a member of the Publicity Committee of the Shanghai Bankruptcy Administrators Association. She formerly served as a deputy to the People’s Congress of Pudong New Area.

In 2020, Nihmat was included in the “National Expert Database for Civil and Administrative Cases” by the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of the People’s Republic of China. She has been consistently recognised as a leading lawyer in insolvency and restructuring in the Asia-Pacific region by Chambers for multiple years, and has been listed in the “Chambers Greater China Region Guide”. She has been repeatedly named in “The A-List” by China Business Law Journal; awarded “Top 15 Insolvency and Restructuring Lawyers in China” and “Women Lawyer Award” by Asian Legal Business; and honoured as one of the “25 Most Influential Young Returnees in China” by Forbes China in 2023. She has also been recognised as a “Stellar Accolade” by the global legal rating agency, LegalOne.
