Chinese premier Wen Jiabao has paved the way for increased bilateral trade between India and China following his visit to the country in mid-December.

Wen was joined by 400 business people and industrial tycoons on his tour, the largest delegation for a state visit to date. His trip follows visits from US president Barack Obama, UK prime minister David Cameron and French president Nicholas Sarkozy.

China agreed it would sign US$16 billion worth of commercial deals with Indian companies and said it would work to provide Indian firms with greater market access in sectors such as IT, pharmaceuticals and agriculture.
