Introduction

Kevin Cai is senior partner at Dentons and director of the foreign legal department. He specializes in international trade remedies, finance and overseas M&As. Cai has been a legal counsel for many domestic enterprises in dealing with legal risks encountered in doing business overseas. His clients include a leading global communications equipment manufacturer, a large domestic infrastructure contractor, and a financial company to its transnational group, trust companies, insurance and capital management entities, as well as some industry-leading large export manufacturers.

Cai has also represented hundreds of famous enterprises in their international trade remedies at home and abroad, including representing Chinese enterprises to respond to anti-dumping investigations, anti-subsidy investigations and safeguard investigations. In addition, he has helped foreign companies to prepare for potential anti-dumping and/or anti-subsidy investigations from Chinese authority. Cai also represents relevant industry associations to defend them in anti-dumping investigations. He has represented almost a hundred of Chinese enterprises to respond to more than 66 anti-dumping investigations and dozens of Chinese enterprises to respond to more than 10 anti-subsidy investigations initiated by the EU, the US, India, Argentina, Australia, Turkey, Brazil, Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Egypt, etc, involving industries like iron and steel, aluminium, electric telecoms, photovoltaic, textiles, chemicals, and electrical appliance manufacturing, etc.

In the overseas M&A field, Cai provides legal services to Chinese enterprises throughout their overseas mineral and equity acquisitions. He gives insights from the aspect of Chinese Competition Law. Cai has been representing leading Chinese enterprises in investment or M&A projects in Canada, Iran, Russia, etc, as well as issuing legal opinions for numerous Chinese enterprises on oversea M&A projects. He represented a leading state-owned-enterprise in establishing an affiliated company oversea.

Cai, a PRC-licensed lawyer and certified M&A trader, has served once as an international trade remedy database lawyer in the Ministry of Commerce of PRC, and counsel at the China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, directly under MOFCOM.
