Charles Yao

Introduction

Charles Yao has more than 15 years of legal professional experience in the fields of cross-border investment and M&A, natural resources, mining, energy, infrastructure, engineering, construction and government co-operation projects (PPP, BOT, BOO). He has represented large-scale, state-owned enterprises or private enterprises in large projects in many countries in South America, Africa, Central Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, North America, Australia and Europe. Yao has also dealt with M&A transactions across multiple jurisdictions, and has taken the lead in large-scale investment and acquisition projects across North America, Europe and Asia.

Yao graduated from Peking University with an LLB and a BA major in economics, with an LLM and JD from Washington & Lee University School of Law.

Yao was admitted to the PRC bar in 2008, and passed his New York State bar examination in 2007. Yao’s working languages are Chinese and English.
