Charles Feng

Introduction

Charles Feng is the director of the international business department and a senior partner at Tahota Law Firm. Feng is a reputable IP and cyber law expert with substantial experience in intellectual property, data protection and antitrust law at international and Chinese law firms, focusing on IP litigation, enforcement trademark and patent portfolio management, as well as cyber law-related matters. He has represented numerous foreign clients from the US, the EU, Japan, the UK and Asean countries at various levels of courts as well as administrative organisations in China. He is particularly experienced in addressing clients’ commercial needs in the areas of IP litigation, arbitration and prosecution, including patent, copyright, trademark, domain names, unfair competition and trade secrets. In addition to his work in the courtrooms, he has been involved in IP transactional work, including the drafting, negotiation and enforcement of IP assignments or licensing agreements. Feng and his team have also represented a number of multinationals in dealing with matters relating to cyber security, privacy and data protection.

His professional experience includes working with the Japanese government body, the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), and top international and domestic law firms in China such as Baker & McKenzie, King & Wood Mallesons and Wan Hui Da Law Firm, which gave him valuable insights into the industry.

Highly regarded in his field at home and abroad, Feng serves as a consulting expert for the Guiding Case Research Centre of the Supreme People’s Court of China, a vice director of the Copyright Society of China, a Standing Committee member of the China Intellectual Property Law Association, an IP expert for the EU Chamber of Commerce and the American Chamber of Commerce, a member of the International Trademark Association’s Trademark Office Operation Committee, the American Bar Association and the China Bar Association.
