Introduction

Catherine (Yafei) Law is a distinguished member of the national talent pool of 1000 Foreign-related Lawyers selected by the General Offices of the PRC Ministry of Justice, a member of the expert panel of the Guangdong Intellectual Property Protection Association, a leading talent in both the Guangdong Foreign-Related Lawyers Pool and the Guangdong Foreign-Related Intellectual Property Lawyers Pool, a member of the 12th Guangdong Provincial Lawyers’ Association Foreign Intellectual Property and Information Security Law Committee, a member of the 12th Guangdong Provincial Lawyers’ Association Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Working Committee, an invited lecturer of QBPC Internet Brand Protection forum. In 2023 and 2022, a team led by her was listed in the intellectual property dispute resolution ranking by Legal 500. Catherine has also been given multiple recognition for her dedication to the field of intellectual property by Chambers and Partners, the LEGAL 500, and the World Trademark Review.

With nearly two decades of expertise in IP law, Catherine specialises in complex cases involving luxury goods, footwear, watches, culture and media. Her cases in trademark, copyright, patent and unfair competition have been repeatedly selected as “Outstanding intellectual property litigation cases in Ling Nan” and “Top ten foreign-related intellectual property cases in Guangdong Province”.

She has represented numerous high-profile cases involving trademark infringement, unfair competition and patent infringement. Many of her cases have gathered significant media attention. Catherine’s insightful articles, such as “Transformations of Registered Trademarks” and “New Explorations in Administrative Enforcement Against Trademark Infringement in Circulation Fields”, have been published in national newspapers like China Industry and Commerce Times and China Market Regulation Newspaper.
