Introduction

Bill Gao graduated from East China University of Political Science and Law with a Juris Master. His practice is focused on intellectual property, unfair competition, cybersecurity and data protection, and dispute resolution. He is one of the managing partners of Landing Law Offices and heads the firm’s intellectual property department. He was recognised as one of China’s “elite lawyers” by China Business Law Journal in 2021 and 2022. He was also named as one of ALB China’s Client Choice Lawyers and Young Lawyer of the Year in East China in 2022.

Gao began his law career at Dentons in Shanghai in 2010. He has more than 12 years of experience practising law, and has extensive theoretical and practical experience in the intellectual property rights, unfair competition, international civil and commercial disputes, and non-litigation fields. His clients are mainly in the telecommunication, media, entertainment and technology fields. He has handled more than 200 litigation and arbitration cases related to intellectual property rights and unfair competition for domestic and overseas clients, involving trademark, patent, copyright, business secret protection, domain name, franchise, and technology transfer and development disputes, as well as other contract and infringement disputes. His specialty is in handling important and complex intellectual property rights dispute cases related to the internet and high-tech fields. He has handled civil and administrative litigation cases related to intellectual property rights in courts at all levels, as well as a large number of litigation and arbitration cases in the Beijing Intellectual Property Court, the Beijing Internet Court, the Guangzhou Internet Court, the Shanghai High People’s Court, the Shanghai Intellectual Property Court, the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, the World Intellectual Property Organisation Arbitration and Mediation Centre, the National Arbitration Forum, the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, etc.

He also has extensive practical experience in non-litigation fields such as corporate intellectual property strategy, brand operations and management, and provides relevant non-litigation services to many high-profile internet technology companies as a retained long-term legal counsel on intellectual property strategy, network safety, data compliance, etc.
