After two years of virtual meetings, the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Australia will host prominent inspirational speakers as it brings the community together again in person at the 28th In-house Legal National Conference and Awards in Brisbane.

Many prominent figures will deliver speeches at this flagship event to be staged in the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre from 16-18 November. It will be the largest gathering of in-house lawyers in the southern hemisphere, featuring relevant and engaging sessions, inspirational keynote speakers, and social and networking events.

Opening the event will be Dylan Alcott, one of Australia’s well-recognised paralympians and 2022 Australian of the Year. Alcott has a portfolio of ventures to his name aimed at improving the lived experience of people with disabilities, from supporting and mentoring young people struggling to come to terms with their disability, to educating corporates and governments on how to better understand and treat customers with disabilities.

Alcott’s true passion is his work as a motivational speaker and, through his inspirational storytelling, he is continually trying to alter and change the way people with disabilities are perceived in the wider community.

Catherine McGregor AM – freelance writer, broadcaster author and graduate of the Royal Military College Duntroon from which she graduated with honours in history – will also share her inspirational personal narrative. McGregor’s service included operational deployments overseas and she was a strategic adviser and speechwriter to every chief of the army from 1999 until 2014. She worked for every major Australian masthead as a columnist on politics, global security and sport between 1994 and 2021, and is the author of three books.

Author Mark Berridge will share the attitude he employed to tackle adversity, built from the powerful connection between embracing uncertainty and liberating possibility. After a life-changing cycling accident that upended him from the high-flying corporate life he had known, Berridge embarked on a journey of determined self-discovery. His uplifting message is drawn from lived experience, shaped in a way that helps listeners become a fraction stronger, too.

Rounding out the all-star line-up is Catherine Ball, associate professor and scientific futurist, as well as, tech influencer, author, champion of diversity and drone expert. Ball likes to demystify emerging technology and empower people to make a change.

During this session, delegates will have the opportunity to discover how emerging technology and industry will allow us to be more human. There will be plenty of opportunities for delegates to connect with peers, industry leaders and leading suppliers, and celebrate the achievements of the in-house community.

The ACC Australia is also proud to represent the interests of more than 4,000 in-house lawyers across the continent and be part of the global association made up of more than 45,000 in-house counsel, employed by over 10,000 organisations across 85 countries.
