A&O Shearman has strengthened its M&A practice in Australia with the appointment of Clayton James as a partner.
James, whose start date has yet to be confirmed, will be based in the Sydney office and joins at a time when the firm is seeing an uptick in demand for sophisticated cross-border and domestic transactional advice.
“Together with recent partner appointments in M&A, finance, property, technology and litigation, and our existing corporate, finance and regulatory strengths, Clayton’s addition positions us to deepen relationships with both Australian sponsors and leading international and regional private equity houses,” said Jason Denisenko, co-managing partner of A&O Shearman in Australia.
James specialises in private equity and venture capital transactions, as well as public and private M&A.
He joins A&O Shearman from Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer, where he currently serves as a partner and senior member of the private equity team in Sydney.
