Introduction

Zhang Xiaowei, president of W&H Law Firm, vice president of the Beijing Lawyers Association, and president of the Beijing Bankruptcy Administration Association, was awarded Outstanding CPC Member of the Beijing Legal Industry from 2017 to 2018, Outstanding Builder of the Cause of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics of Beijing in 2011, and Public Welfare Figure in 2021 of the 11th Philanthropy Festival, among others. In 2019, he was listed as a member of the Legal Experts Committee of Xiong’an New Area. In 2021, he was named as an expert adviser on civil and administrative matters by the Supreme People’s Procuratorate.

In 1995, Zhang established W&H Law Firm in Beijing. Over the past 28 years, W&H has become a renowned and large-scale firm with more than 4,000 lawyers and over 40 branches globally.

Expanding business in countries under the Belt and Road Initiative, Zhang has developed ties with related companies, for providing one-stop, all-round, international legal services for clients, and giving full play to the advantages of the lawyers specialising in the handling of foreign-related matters.

In August 2019, W&H won the bidding for the legal service projects of the Beijing Organising Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Zhang aimed to provide a world-class legal service for the committee through a highly disciplined legal team, so as to make a contribution to the sports industry and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

As a member of the All-China Youth Federation, vice president of the China Poverty Alleviation Culture Promotion Association, initiator of the desertification land management project in Inner Mongolia’s Alxa League, Zhang has engaged activities for the public good through giving support to disaster area, donating large sums to abandoned children, and providing free legal aid for people in rural areas. Zhang promoted social awareness, leading W&H’s lawyers to get involved in public-benefit activities.

As a pioneer in the practice of law, Zhang has made great contributions to the development of the legal industry and even the rule of law in Beijing. He has kept law in his mind as faith.
