Zhang Baisha

Introduction

Zhang Zhang Baisha is a senior partner of Zhong Lun Law Firm. With nearly 30 years’ experience in legal practice, he has been recognised for his outstanding achievements in the fields of antitrust/competition, dispute resolution and M&A, regularly awarded as Tier 1 or special recommendation by numerous well-known legal rating agencies.

Always at the forefront in antitrust law, Zhang has been devoted to this field in both academic research and practice, and participated in several landmark cases, assisting clients with his in-depth knowledge of competition law and economics, as well as rich experience in antitrust practice. Two antitrust cases he represented have been recognised with numerous awards, including “10 Landmark Antitrust Litigation Cases in 2022”, the 2022 Summary of Fundamental Principles from the Judgments of the IP Tribunal of the Supreme People’s Court by PRC Supreme Court, and 10 landmark cases of the Guangzhou IP Court, etc. The acquisition of control of Whirlpool China by Galanz, in which Zhang was one of the leading counsels, has also been honoured as “Deals of the Year 2021 (Cross-border)” by China Business Law Journal and “Impact Deal and Case Awards” by asialaw Profiles.

As an adjunct professor at Jinan University, Zhang has promoted and cultivated antitrust awareness in China by teaching competition law and business law for 12 years. As an academic partner of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development’s Research Partnership Platform on competition and consumer protection, Zhang has been invited to attend the Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Competition Law and Policy in Geneva.

In addition to his accomplishments as an expert in competition law, he has been instrumental in extending deeper understanding of law firm management in the Greater Bay Area of China. Serving as the managing partner of Zhong Lun Law Firm Guangzhou Office, he has led the firm to being winning awards every year from leading legal publications. In recognition of his achievements in this area, Zhang was honoured as the “Managing Partner of the Year: South & Central China” by ALB.
