Ma Sai

Introduction

Ma Sai is a senior managing partner at Bohe & Hansen, as well as head of its Dispute Resolution Committee. An established lawyer, he has received several notable accolades, including being named as one of the Top Ten Outstanding Young Lawyers in Shanghai in the 5th Shanghai Bar Competition, being a Shanghai Lawyer Debate Contest champion, and being recognised as one of the Top Ten Outstanding Lawyers of Changning District of Shanghai. Ma also serves as a member of the Council of the Intellectual Property Business Research Committee of the Shanghai Bar Association and lectures on intellectual property courses at the Shanghai Lawyers’ School. In 2019, he was selected as one of the “The A-List: China’s Top 100 Lawyers” by China Business Law Journal. In 2023, he was selected as a leading lawyer in dispute resolution in the Greater China Law Guide by Chambers and Partners. Ma is also an independent director at BOCOM MSIG Life Insurance.

Ma’s practice areas primarily revolve around various forms of commercial litigation and arbitration, intellectual property and unfair competition cases. He boasts extensive experience in managing diverse litigation and arbitration cases and possesses a deep understanding of the rules governing the admission of evidence. His expertise spans across the courts and arbitration institutions at all levels. Ma is deeply involved in the legal aspects of corporate governance and risk control. His strengths lie in corporate compliance and resolving company deadlock issues, and he provides long-term services to numerous multinational companies and top 500 global enterprises.

Ma serves as one of the managing partners of Bohe & Hansen Insolvency Administrator and is a member of the Shanghai Insolvency Administrator Rights Protection and Supervision Committee. In these roles, he leads and resolves cases related to liquidation, reconstruction and layoffs.

Ma also offers ongoing legal counsel to assist local governments in administrative litigation and financial supervision functions. He is a member of the Administrative Reconsideration Committee of Putuo District in Shanghai and adeptly handles complex cases.
