Wilson Sonsini has hired Jennifer Liu as a China partner at its Hong Kong office, strengthening its capital markets practice.
Before joining Wilson Sonsini, Liu spent nearly two years as an executive director and legal counsel in Morgan Stanley’s investment banking and global capital markets divisions. Prior to that, she practised at Davis Polk for 13 years and was promoted to counsel in 2022. Both roles were based in Hong Kong.
Liu is qualified to practise in New York and Hong Kong. She has advised corporate and investment banking clients on capital markets matters, including Hong Kong and US IPOs as well as follow-on equity offerings, convertible bond issuances and debt offerings. Her practice covers sectors including healthcare, life sciences, technology, consumer products and financial services.
Liu has assisted companies including CARsgen Therapeutics and China Everbright Bank with their Hong Kong listings. She has also advised on high-yield bond issuances and debt management matters for property companies, including Ronshine China, China South City and Zhenro Properties.
“Liu’s arrival demonstrates our longstanding commitment to serving clients across Greater China and the Asia-Pacific market,” said Chen Weiheng, Wilson Sonsini’s senior partner and head of Greater China practice, in a press release. He said Liu’s appointment would “support the continued growth of our Hong Kong and Shanghai offices”.
