Michael Liu

Introduction

Michael Liu is a Shanghai-based senior partner at Dacheng Law Offices. He is a senior lawyer, a senior economist, and holds an MBA. With more than 28 years of legal practice experience, he has extensive expertise in various areas.

Liu serves as an expert consultant for civil and administrative affairs at the Supreme People’s Procuratorate. He is the director of the Shanghai Bar Association’s intellectual property committee, the vice president of the Shanghai Lujiazui Subdistrict Chamber of Commerce, an expert member of the Shanghai Economic Series Intellectual Property Senior Professional Title Review, an expert for the Shanghai Data Intellectual Property Registration pilot programme, a legal expert for the Jiangsu Information Network Security Association, a council member of the Shanghai Intellectual Property Service Industry Association, a high-tech and project financing consultant for the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission, a council member of the Shanghai Law Society’s Intellectual Property Research Association, and an expert deliberation committee member at the Shanghai Higher People’s Court. He also serves as an external tutor at East China University of Political Science and Law, Tongji University, and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.

Liu specialises in IP, major commercial dispute resolution, corporate compliance, M&A, and financial management. He excels in handling complex legal issues and providing comprehensive legal and value-added services to clients. He has been recognised as part of the second batch of “outstanding civil and administrative experts” of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate. He has received numerous international awards, including Chambers and Partners’ Greater China Region “highly recommended lawyer” in IP, The Legal 500 Asia Pacific’s “Intellectual Property Key Lawyer”, Asialaw Profiles’ “Leading Lawyer”, China Business Law Journal’s “The A-List”, and APAC Insider’s “trusted intellectual property expert in Greater China”. Liu has published a number of academic papers in domestic journals such as Shanghai Lawyer (“Intellectual Property Protection in the Art Copyright Industry and Import Trade”), as well as international journals like China Business Law Journal.
