Introduction

Wendy Yan helps clients cross borders to grow their businesses. She has extensive experience in multijurisdictional mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, financings, technology transfers, venture capital, private equity and general corporate counseling, and various types of inbound and outbound investment relating to China.

Her Chinese inbound experience includes representing multinational companies and private equity investors in the acquisition of Chinese businesses, representing multinational companies in forming and operating wholly foreign-owned and joint venture enterprises in China, and representing venture capital/private equity investors and technology companies in numerous equity financing transactions related to China businesses.

Her Chinese outbound experience includes representing famous Chinese companies in their overseas acquisitions and other investment projects. Yan is particularly experienced in advising clients in industries such as media and entertainment, chemicals, energy, technology, automotive, telecoms, consumer products, real estate and construction.

Yan was among the 100 foreign firm lawyers in China Business Law Journal’s The A-List Elite 2021 and 2022. The firm’s China practice team, under the direction of Yan, won the Outstanding Foreign Law Firm award in the Industrial & Manufacturing category of China Business Law Awards in 2020 and 2021. Yan also received the 40 Under 40 Awards in the Legal Adviser category of M&A Adviser in 2014.
