White & Case has injected fresh talent into its investment funds practice in Tokyo with the appointment of Sayako Shiraki as a local partner and Hiroto Nakayama as counsel.

Shiraki joined the firm’s global M&A team, specialising in investment funds, real estate and regulatory matters. She advises fund managers, service providers, investors and financial institutions on cross-border fund structuring, management, real estate investments, financing and regulatory issues.

Nakayama specialises in advising fund managers, global and investment banks and other financial institutions on financial regulatory issues such as licensing applications, corporate restructuring and compliance documentation. He has extensive experience in financial transactions and provides legal guidance on regulations affecting Japanese and foreign banks, insurance companies and securities firms.

Shiraki and Nakayama were previously managing associates at Linklaters in Tokyo. White & Case recently added funds partner Eriko Sakata, also from Linklaters, as part of the firm’s ongoing global expansion of its funds practice.
