After an eight-year stint at Norton Rose Fulbright as a partner, Singapore-based technology and data lawyer Stella Cramer joins Clifford Chance to lead the tech group in the Asia-Pacific.

Cramer, who will be a partner at Clifford Chance, also served as co-head of the intellectual property and technology group in Europe, the Middle East and Asia for Norton Rose.

Valerie Kong, Clifford Chance’s managing partner of the Singapore office, said the firm saw potential for more business after the government announced efforts to drive digital innovation across industries in the 2023 budget.

“We will continue to see market-first matters lead out of the region, as we have recently witnessed with Project Guardian and Partior [a collaborative effort between the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the fintech industry],” said Kong.

Cramer, who moved to the island-state 13 years ago, has extensive experience in complex digital and transformational technology projects, platform collaborations and technology transactions, often involving disruptive technologies such as blockchain and artificial intelligence.

Previously, she held in-house roles at two global banks where she focused on technology, data, and digitalisation projects across multiple jurisdictions.

Apart from advising clients on global data compliance programmes, the commercialisation of data and high-profile cyber incidents, Cramer also assisted on fintech projects and was involved in the setting up of industry sandboxes.

She serves on specialist advisory committees, covering the regulation of data, blockchain and artificial intelligence in Singapore and regionally.
