Introduction

Xu Shengfeng obtained his Doctor of Jurisprudence at Jilin University, and is a senior partner at Zhong Lun Law Firm in Beijing in charge of corporate bankruptcy and reorganisation. Xu also serves as a researcher at the Bankruptcy Law Research Center of the Renmin University of China, a member of the Bankruptcy Law Group of the Observer Expert Group for the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law, and the vice president of the Bankruptcy Law Research Association of the Guangdong Law Society.

Xu is rated a first-level leading lawyer in the bankruptcy restructuring field by Chambers Asia-Pacific. He won the 2020 Benchmark Litigation “China Lawyer of the Year” award and the 2020 IFLR1000 China Awards for “Best Bankruptcy and Reorganisation Lawyer”.

Xu has long focused on the field of bankruptcy and led many major and complex bankruptcy cases with national influence. His representative cases on bankruptcy liquidation include Hantang Securities, Minfa Securities Company, STX Dalian Shipbuilding Co, etc. His representative cases on bankruptcy reorganisation include Zhejiang Unifull Industrial Fiber Co, Longkey Industrial Co, Zhonghe Taibai, Zhonghua, Fujian Nuoqi Co (an H-share company), Liaoning Huishan Dairy Group, Fujian Anxi Tiekuanyin Group Co, etc. The Taibai case was included in the first batch of “10 Typical Bankruptcy Cases” (2016) of the Supreme People’s Court, while the Anxi Tiekuanyin case was included in the second batch of “10 Typical Bankruptcy Cases” (2018) of the Supreme People’s Court. The reorganisation of Huishan Dairy won the 2020 “Impact Deal/Case of the Year” awarded by Asialaw, and the 2020 “Deals of the Year” by China Business Law Journal.

Xu is also the chief editor of Annotations to the Enterprise Bankruptcy Law, Letter of Bankruptcy Law, Analysis on Arbitration Rules of Cases of Enterprise Bankruptcy of the People’s Courts, Road to Exit and Revitalization of Enterprises in Difficulties – Bankruptcy Liquidation and Reorganization Practice Research. He has published multiple professional papers in journals such as China Trial, Legal Application and Chinese Lawyers.
