Wolters Kluwer Health has acquired Medknow Publications & Media, a Mumbai-based publisher of over 155 scientific, technical and medical journals and one of the largest open access publishers in the world. The value of the deal has not been disclosed.

The purchase gives Wolters Kluwer Health access to the Indian market, where Medknow has a strong presence, and is intended to help Wolters Kluwer Health produce more locally written content and incorporate more open access platforms into its business model. Medknow also has an online peer-review system for authors and editors.

It has headquarters in Philadelphia and is part of Wolters Kluwer, a global information services company.
