Vikram Shroff has left Nishith Desai Associates after a 25-year career, embarking on a fresh path to become a partner of the employment/labour and benefits team at AZB.
“I was truly inspired by [AZB managing partner] Zia Mody’s vision and progressive thinking for the firm’s employment/labour and benefits practice and decided to take up the opportunity. The firm already has a fantastic group of lawyers in its employment law team,” said Shroff.
Shroff began working with Nishith Desai Associates in 1998 and continued to grow with the firm, eventually leading its HR law team. He credits the firm’s founder, Nishith Desai, and remains obliged to him, for his success and shaping his career.
He told India Business Law Journal that he made a “leap of faith” to try something different an exciting. Shroff believes that AZB is poised to remain ahead of the curve when it came to its labour and employment law practice. “In this area, clients have increasingly been preferring lawyers with specialisation and knowledge of market practice,” he said. This is significant as India’s new labour codes are expected to take effect soon, which will see demand for specialist employment lawyers increase.
Shroff is confident that once the new codes have taken effect AZB & Partners will be well-positioned to take advantage of the opportunities.
