International arbitration expert Vanina Sucharitkul joins Singapore’s Rajah & Tann as a partner in the firm’s regional international arbitration practice.

Initially based in Bangkok, Sucharitkul will work closely with the firm’s headquarters In Singapore before relocating there in due course.

“Vanina’s appointment comes at a time when the firm is looking to grow our international arbitration practice,” said Kelvin Poon, senior counsel and head of the international arbitration practice at Rajah & Tann Singapore.

“Her extensive experience and expertise in international arbitration will add a new dimension to our practice and enhance our ability to serve our clients’ needs globally.”

Having served as Thailand’s member of the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce from 2012 to 2021, Sucharitkul is currently a chair of the Thailand Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and has served as director of ArbitralWomen for two terms. She was previously a registered foreign lawyer at Herbert Smith Freehills for more than nine years until 2017.

Sucharitkul is experienced in advising local and international clients on a diverse range of cross-border disputes involving commercial contracts, investigations and anti-corruption, joint ventures, insurance and reinsurance, construction and infrastructure projects, environmental contamination and investment treaty arbitration in Paris, Bangkok and Hong Kong. She is familiar with arbitrations across multiple jurisdictions under the auspices of leading international arbitral institutions.

She is also a lecturer in the LLM programme at Paris Descartes University in Paris on international commercial and investment arbitration.
