Our services
GI&T Law Office is a Japanese boutique law firm focusing on international dispute resolution, internal investigations and compliance, with a dedicated team of international lawyers, including two Americans. GI&T was established in April 2020, by Kengo Nishigaki, a Japanese lawyer licensed in Japan and New York. Kengo spent 20 years at Baker McKenzie Tokyo, with more than 10 of these years as a partner in the dispute resolution group.
Dispute resolutions
As a boutique firm free from conflicts of interest, GI&T provides world-class dispute resolution services in Japan for international clients over a broad range of commercial and labour issues. Its lawyers conduct civil and criminal litigation in the courts of Japan and take part in domestic and international arbitration. Unlike traditional Japanese law firms that tend to only give advice on law, the firm works shoulder to shoulder with the clients to help them formulate and carry out long and short-term dispute resolution strategies and to implement these measures towards the best outcomes.

GI&T stands for Global Integrity and Trust. In addition to the major Japanese healthcare companies, the firm has been assisting US and European companies in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries in conducting internal investigations and implementing compliance programmes for their Japanese subsidiaries.
With deep knowledge of the industry as well as the complicated local codes and regulations and the elaborate business customs of healthcare professionals in Japan, GI&T provides investigation strategies, conducts interviews and e-reviews, and gives recommendations on remedial measures. Furthermore, the firm supports clients in self-reporting to healthcare-related government bodies, including the Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare, and in negotiations with regulators at all levels.
Compliance programme support
GI&T helps clients establish robust compliance programmes that provide top-to-bottom compliance training, both online and face-to-face, and that contain a full array of essential compliance policies. For more than 10 years, Kengo Nishigaki has been conducting FCPA training for dealers on behalf of American Medical Device and Diagnostics, one of the largest industry organisations in the medical device field in Japan.
Contract review or negotiations
On the business side, GI&T drafts and reviews contracts for global healthcare and IT company clients and takes an active role on their behalf in business negotiations.
