Gao Meili

Introduction

Gao Meili is a senior partner at the Beijing headquarters of Dacheng Law Offices. She joined the firm in 2003 and is currently the head of its bankruptcy reorganisation and liquidation group and a director of its first business department.

She is a member of the International Bankruptcy Law Association, a supervisor of the Beijing Bankruptcy Law Association, a member of the 11th Committee of the Beijing Youth Federation, and a member of the 6th Standing Committee of the Dongcheng District Youth Federation Committee of Beijing. Gao is the author of the State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council’s research project on legal bankruptcy practice of state-owned enterprises. She is a qualified independent director, and serves as a special consultant for the risk disposal of local governments. In 2021, she published the book Judgment Rules for Bankruptcy Litigation and Legal Practice of Administrators.

Gao has successfully undertaken major bankruptcy reorganisation and debt risk resolution cases of listed companies, large state-owned enterprises and groups, and has rich experience in debt risk resolution and bankruptcy. Due to her outstanding performance in the field, she was named as one of the “2018 ALB China Top 15 Female Lawyers”, and was selected into “The A-List Legal Elite” in the China market by China Business Law Journal in 2020 and named by the CBLJ as one of the “Visionary Leaders” in 2023. She was also recognised by The Legal 500 as a recommended lawyer for antitrust and competition law, corporate and M&A in the Asia-Pacific region in 2021, for bankruptcy reorganisation and tax in the Asia-Pacific region in 2022, and for bankruptcy and restructuring in the Asia-Pacific region in 2023. She was selected as among the “China Top 15 Lawyers – Debt Restructuring” by Legalband in 2022, was conferred the “Outstanding Award for Restructuring Business in 2022” by the Beijing Bankruptcy Administrators Association, the “Lawyer Monthly Women in Law Awards 2023”, and the Asia Law Profile 2023-2024 “Notable Practitioner” in the Chinese market.
