Cooley advised e-sports and mobile gaming platform Mobile Premier League (MPL) on its recent series E financing round, which was led by Legatum Capital and included Accrete Capital, Gaingels and existing investors Moore Strategic Ventures and RTP Global. Trilegal advised Legatum Capital.
The financing, announced on 16 September, was for an undisclosed amount and valued MPL at USD2.3 billion, making it the second Indian gaming startup to do be worth more than USD1 billion. The first was Dream Sports, the parent of Dream11.
Cooley’s team was led by Ferish Patel, partner in charge of the firm’s Singapore office.
MPL, a three-year-old e-sports platform operated by Bengaluru-based Galactus Funware Technology, began operations in the US in July this year. MPL is expected to use the new capital it raised to add games and expand to six more countries within three years.
