Walter Huang

Introduction

Walter Huang is a partner at V&T Law Firm, specialising in shipping, international trade, energy and investment financing. Huang served as the legal director at the headquarters of a renowned energy group, overseeing global legal affairs. This role allowed him to accumulate a deep industry background and expertise in handling multinational projects. Before joining V&T, he provided comprehensive legal support for several large-scale energy and shipping projects domestically and internationally, excelling in designing tailored legal solutions for clients.

As a chartered financial analyst, a certified anti-money laundering specialist, and a member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, Huang has strong expertise not only in law but also in finance and industry, enabling him to offer clients comprehensive legal services. His practice spans traditional and renewable energy project development, investment and financing, shipping, ship finance and bulk commodity trading. Huang has significant experience in complex cross-border projects and dispute resolution.

Huang’s client base covers multiple industries, including shipping, energy, renewable energy, manufacturing and finance. Representative clients include China Chengtong International, Shandong Marine Group, GCL Group, Zheshang Development and K-Line. He has built a strong track record in ship transactions, financing leases, commodity trading and international arbitration, participating in key projects such as Qatar Energy’s “100 Ships Project” to complete several new liquefied natural gas (LNG) vessels construction and long-term lease transactions, along with multiple LNG long-term sale and purchase agreement negotiations. His solid legal foundation and industry experience have enabled him to achieve excellent results in complex cross-border transactions and disputes.

Huang is a member of the Shanghai Bar Association’s international trade and free trade zone committee and an adjunct lecturer at Shanghai University of Political Science and Law.
