Minoru KOBAYASHI

Introduction

Minoru Kobayashi is a partner at Anderson Mori & Tomotsune and has been involved in a wide range of real estate transactions, including sales and purchases of real estate, commercial leasing and property development. He has particular expertise in complex real estate finance and real estate funds. He regularly represents lenders, sponsors, asset managers, developers, investors and other key players, including various financial institutions and global real estate funds, dealing with various types of assets, including office buildings, residential buildings, commercial facilities, logistics facilities, hotels and healthcare assets.

Kobayashi’s practice also covers capital market transactions. He has represented foreign issuers and managers in public and private offerings of debt and equity securities in Japan and globally. With the combination of his experience in real estate and capital markets, he is highly skilled in handling both public and private offerings of units of Japanese real estate investment trusts (REITs). His work also spans securitisation, the establishment of investment funds and other structured financing transactions involving numerous asset classes.

In addition to his real estate, capital market and structured finance practice, Kobayashi has experience in M&As and general corporate matters, including corporate restructurings, licensing and international trade. Kobayashi holds an LLB from the University of Tokyo (1995) and an LLM from the University of Virginia (2002). He is admitted to practise law in Japan (1997) and New York (2003).
