Introduction

Maria Christina Macasaet-Acaban is a partner and a member of the management committee of Quisumbing Torres, a member firm of Baker & McKenzie International. Christina heads the corporate and commercial/M&A practice group, the competition focus group, and the healthcare and life sciences industry group in Quisumbing Torres.

She is also a member of the technology, media and telecommunications industry group. She is a member of Baker & McKenzie International’s Asia Pacific healthcare and life sciences steering committee and the Asia Pacific M&A steering committee. She has 23 years of experience advising and representing multinational corporations on domestic and cross-border transactions.

Christina is cited as a leading individual in corporate and M&A by the Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2019-2022, a distinguished practitioner for corporate and M&A by Asialaw Leading Lawyers 2020-2022, and a highly regarded lawyer in corporate and M&A by the IFLR1000-Financial and Corporate Guide 2019-2021. Christina’s practice focuses on M&A, foreign investments and structuring, antitrust and competition, and corporate reorganisations and restructuring for a range of industries including pharmaceuticals and healthcare, technology, media and telecommunications, real estate, consumer goods and retail, and manufacturing. She participates in fora discussing women in the legal profession. As one of the youngest principals in the firm and the only female principal, while also being a proud mother to two teenagers, she serves as a role model for gender empowerment and for women to showcase their leadership, expertise, diligence and focus in the legal profession.
