Introduction

Lu Guofei has expertise in urban and rural development and construction, investment and financing, and related dispute resolution, and has rich experience in comprehensive legal services and the ability to resolve difficult and complex commercial disputes. Lu serves as a permanent legal adviser or provides long-term services to many industry-leading or large-scale, well-known enterprises/institutions at home and abroad.

Lu has represented parties in a number of highly influential projects and cases, including Tesla setting up a new factory in Shanghai (China Business Law Journal‘s ” Deals of the Year 2018 “), a state-owned shipping group with two large Japanese warehousing and logistics companies setting up a joint venture company to acquire a site under construction and the whole process of the project (selected in the Ministry of Justice’s casebook), a complaint in a dispute over a land grant in a Shanghai district industrial park (selected in the Ministry of Justice’s casebook), and claims and counterclaims in the Shanghai High Court in a dispute over the general contracting for the construction of a landmark building in Wujiaochang, Shanghai, for a Hong Kong-listed company (a branded real estate company), among others.

Lu serves as deputy director of the Construction Engineering and Real Estate Professional Committee of the All-China Lawyers Association, expert of the Civil and Administrative Prosecution Expert Consultation Network of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate (specialis ing in construction engineering and real estate), director of the Real Estate Professional Committee of the Shanghai Lawyers Association, deputy head of the r esearch group of the Shanghai Lawyers Association Urban Renewal and Urban Governance Legal Service and Research Centre , chairman of the Legal Sub-Committee of the Shanghai Real Estate Chamber of Commerce , director of the Shanghai Lawyers Association, member of the Legal Expert Pool of the Huangpu District Committee of the Communist Party of China, first batch of members of the “Shanghai Young Legal Talent Pool” of the Shanghai Law Association and director of the Shanghai Huangpu District Law Association, among others.

Lu has been recognised as an Outstanding Expert in Civil Consultation in the Second Phase of the Civil Administration Prosecution Expert Consultation Network of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate (2022); as a leading lawyer in the field of construction and engineering by Chambers & Partners Band 2 in China from 2018 to 2023, and listed in The Legal 500 in the field of real estate and construction engineering and by Benchmark Litigation China as a regional construction and real estate dispute resolution star; awarded as Shanghai’s Fourth Outstanding Young Lawyer by the Shanghai Lawyers Association (2011), and the 2016 Special Contribution Award, the 2017 Legal Service Achievement Award, the 2020 Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Worker Award, and the 2021-2023 Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Worker Award by the Shanghai Real Estate Chamber of Commerce.
