Introduction

Vincent Sun began his legal practice in a well-known law firm in Shanghai, in 2000, as an associate and partner. In 2007, he established Shanghai Young-Ben Law Firm as a founding partner, and served as a director and the firm’s managing partner. In 2010, he was admitted to practise in New York state. In 2016, he was awarded as Chinese Leading Lawyer in International Practice by the All China Lawyers Association. In 2018, he was selected into the Talent Pool of China’s 1,000 Lawyers for International Practice by the PRC Ministry of Justice. He has also served as an independent director for listed companies and financial institutions. In 2022, Sun joined Han Kun Law Offices in Shanghai, following a merger between Young-Ben and Han Kun.

Sun specialises in commercial litigation and arbitration, cross-border dispute resolution, and banking and finance. With extensive experience and a strong command of domestic and international mechanisms, he has led complex, high-end cases involving financial securities, equity investments, private funds, biopharmaceuticals, and cross-border transactions. Sun has also been listed as a panel arbitrator and mediator for a number of well-known arbitration institutions including the Shanghai International Arbitration Center (SHIAC); Shanghai Arbitration Commission (SHAC); Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA); Hangzhou Arbitration Commission (HZAC); and China Commission of Arbitration for Sport (CCAS). As the presiding arbitrator or sole arbitrator, he has participated in many arbitration cases.

Sun is also a skillful negotiator and possesses exemplary business acumen, flexibility and decisiveness. He provides long-term legal services to renowned domestic and international clients including CITIC Bank, Industrial Bank, Zhong’an Insurance, CIGNA and CMC Life Insurance, Guotai Junan Securities, Wanjia Asset, Franklin Templeton Sealand Fund, Lingang Group, GP Capital, Jiangxi State-owned Capital Operation Holding Fund, New World Development Company, Acter Group (Taiwan), Philips China, GE Aerospace, Sanofi, Beumer Group (Germany), OCI Group (the Netherlands), and Nouryon. In addition, Sun maintains co-operative relationships with numerous international law firms to provide legal support to global investors.
