Deng Furong

Introduction

Deng Furong is a partner and head of the debt restructuring practice at Zhonglun Law Firm. He also serves as an Arbitrator of the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) and the Shanghai Arbitration Commission (SHAC).

With over 20 years of legal practice, Deng has advised clients on more than 500 real estate and engineering projects, acted as legal counsel or arbitrator in over 500 dispute resolution cases (including litigation and arbitration matters), and provided advisory services for restructuring and M&A transactions involving a total debt exceeding RMB500 billion (USD70.96 billion). In the past three years alone, the disputed amount in the arbitration and litigation cases he has represented totals more than RMB 20 billion.

Deng boasts extensive practical experience in non-litigation areas including debt restructuring, M&A, real estate investment and financing, real estate development, construction engineering, urban renewal, and commercial real estate investment promotion and operation, as well as in litigation and arbitration dispute resolution arising from the above-mentioned fields. He holds unique expertise particularly in the rescue, restructuring, investment and dispute resolution of distressed real estate projects, especially urban renewal projects.

Deng’s key clients include renowned enterprises such as CITIC, Cinda real estate, China Overseas, CSCEC, COFCO, CICC, China Resources, AVIVA-COFCO, China Jinmao, Ping An, Shenzhen Metro, Kerry Properties, CapitaLand, Mapletree, Goldman Sachs, and Tishman Speyer. He has been continually recognised with honours including Dealmaker of Asia by Asia Legal Business (ALB); Real Estate & Construction Individual of the Year by China Law & Practice (CLP); Recommended Lawyer in Real Estate by Chambers Greater China Region Guide; Benchmark Litigation Star in Construction & Real Estate; Recommended Lawyer in M&A by IFLR1000; and Recommended Lawyer by The Legal 500.
