Introduction
Jason Sun is a senior partner at Dacheng Law Offices. He is PhD Student of the Law School of Tsinghua University, and also serves as an Expert of the ICC International Trade and State Aid Working Group; Deputy Director of the International Trade Law Committee, Beijing Lawyers Association; the MOFCOM’s Legal Counsel advising trade remedy matters; Legal Expert of China Going Global Thinktank; Thinktank Expert of Import and Export Compliance Committee; and Member of the Expert Database of Wuxi International Commercial Dispute Settlement and Intellectual.

Sun is an esteemed international trade law practitioner highly recognised by international attorney rating agencies such as Chambers, Legal 500, The Best Lawyer, Legalband, and China Business Law Journal. Sun used to serve as Director of Department of Information in Beijing WTO Centre, responsible for analysing Uruguay Round legal documents. Since 2008, he focuses his practice on international trade law, and he is one of the most experienced lawyers representing the government of China in CVD investigations against China. Sun represents the China Chamber of International Commerce and the China Shipowners’ Association in responding to the two separated section 301 investigations against China’s acts, policies and practices (the section 301 investigation related to technology transfer, intellectual property and innovation initially took place in 2017, and the section 301 investigation related to maritime, logistics and shipbuilding sectors initially took place in 2024). With participating experiences on all the processes of section 301 investigations (including investigation, tariff action, exemption, exclusion and extension), Sun is one of the most experienced lawyers in China in handling US section 301 investigations.
As an enrolled doctoral candidate of the law school of Tsinghua University specialising in international law, Sun provides legal advice to clients on international trade, trade remedy investigation, customs affairs, competition, and cross-border investment. Sun has been providing professional legal services to clients in areas of trade remedies, cross-border trade, and investment activities in numerous countries or regions including the US, EU, Canada, Australia, Mexico, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, South Africa, and the Dominican Republic. Throughout his practice, Sun has achieved zero tax rates and the industry’s lowest tax rates in numerous trade remedy investigations, and has accomplished remarkable practical performances on country-specific trade remedy compliance and construction of architecture of anti-circumvention systems.
