Wang Zheng

Introduction

Wang Zheng’s practice areas are major commercial litigation and arbitration. As a partner of Zhenghan Law Firm, Wang has long been engaged in the field of high-end commercial dispute resolution and has undertaken many difficult and complex commercial litigation and arbitration cases with huge amounts in dispute, handling cases totalling tens of billions of renminbi. He has extensive experience and insight in major commercial litigation and arbitration, serving clients including Chinese and foreign banks and financial institutions, listed companies and large state-owned enterprises, etc.

Wang’s representative cases include:

• In the first financial test case in China heard by the Shanghai Financial Court, representing the applicants (including Société Générale, Bank of Communications, Pudong Development Bank and Industrial Bank) in a dispute against Shanghai Clearing House over the disposal of a central counterparty financial derivative default.
• Representation of a private holding company in a share dispute regarding acquisition of a
• commercial bank, involving an amount of RMB12 billion.
• Represented the founder of a property developer with cross-border structure in a shareholders’ dispute involving both PRC and foreign litigations, with a dispute amount over RMB10 billion (USD1.64 billion).
• Representation of the founder of a property developer in both PRC and foreign proceedings in disputes over shareholders and damage to the company’s interests, with a matter value of over RMB4 billion.

Wang is an arbitrator of the Shanghai Arbitration Commission and the Shanghai International Arbitration Centre, deputy director of the Civil and Commercial Litigation Research Committee of the Shanghai Bar Association, a master’s supervisor and off-campus lecturer for Fudan University, and a master’s supervisor and off-campus lecturer for Shanghai Jiaotong University.
