Zhou Zheren

Introduction

Zhou Zheren currently serves as an arbitrator for the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), the Shanghai International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (Shanghai International Arbitration Center, SHIAC), the Shanghai Arbitration Commission, the Shenzhen International Arbitration Court and the Nanjing Arbitration Commission (NAC). In addition, he is a part-time researcher for the Arbitration Research Institute of China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), an off-campus mentor for master’s degree students in law at Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, and a member of the Arbitration Practice Research Committee of the Shanghai Bar Association .

In recent years, Zhou has provided representation and achieved satisfactory results for clients in major cases such as an arbitration case regarding an investment contract dispute with a total disputed amount of RMB21.5 billion (USD2.9 billion); the lawsuit on the equity transfer dispute between Hu and a certain fund investment company (one of the Major Cases of the Shanghai Financial Court in 2020 ); and a contract dispute case in which a certain factoring company sued Yan and others (one of the Top Ten Typical Cases of the Shanghai Financial Court in 2022 and the Second Batch of Reference Cases of the Shanghai High People’s Court in 2023 ).

Zhou has been honoured with numerous awards, including: the New Long Marcher of Shanghai; the Young Expert in Shanghai Judicial Administrative System; and the Excellent Young Lawyer Nomination Award of Shanghai. He was also named one of the 2023 ALB China Top 15 Litigation Lawyers; one of the 2023 Legalband Top 15 Litigation Lawyers; one of the 2024 Legalband Top 15 Arbitration Lawyers; and one of the 2024 Legalband China Top 30 Lawyers.

Considering that Zhou once served as the managing director of Xinjiang Hejin Holding, a company listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, and the chairman of the board of directors of Great China Holdings, a company listed on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, he can well understand the actual commercial needs of clients and formulate practical and effective legal solutions for them.
