John Dong

Introduction

John Dong has extensive experience in labour law, commercial related civil litigation, corporate policy establishment, and the like.

Dong has for long engaged in the practical and theoretical regimes of labour and employment law, has provided legal service to many multinational corporations and large-scale stated-owned corporations such as Carrefour, General Motors, General Electric, Jiaotong Bank, Johnson & Johnson and so on. Services provided to those corporations include Chinese and English legal consultancy, legal document reviews, collective bargaining and litigation. Dong also has wide experience in helping companies dealing with international commercial disputes involving labour or employment issues.

He obtained a Bachelor of Law degree from the East China University of Political Science and Law, majoring in international economic law, as well as an LLM (Master of Law) degree from Vanderbilt Law School in the US. He is admitted at the New York and Chinese bars.

Dong has published quite a few legal articles, some of which were published by core legal journals such as Heibei Law Science. Dong has also published papers such as: “Case Analysis on Latest PRC Labour Contract Law (Chinese – English version)”; “2012 China Labour Law Yearbook (Chinese – English version)”; and “HR Legal Counsel”, which have been highly complimented.

Dong has been recognised multiple times as a Leading Lawyer in the Field of Employment Law in the Asia-Pacific/China Region by Chambers & Partners. He has also been awarded: A-List China’s Elite 100 Lawyers; Ranked Lawyer in Employment Law; Top Ten Outstanding Young Lawyers; Golden List Top 100 Young Lawyers; 2024 GRCD Most Preferred Labour Compliance Lawyers; and so on by several famous evaluation institutions and media including China Business Law Journal, Benchmark Litigation, CLECSS, China Law & Practice Awards, and Asia Pacific Media Foundation.
