Anderson Mori & Tomotsune (AMT), one of Japan’s four largest law firms, has undertaken a rebranding exercise aiming to target significant areas of further growth for the 70-year-old Japanese firm.

“Focus areas include energy transition finance, fintech, AI, economic security and global carve-out M&A, ensuring AMT remains at the forefront of addressing clients’ advanced legal needs,” said Anderson Mori.

The Tokyo-based firm, which added that it would disclose more details on its growth strategy going forward early next year, had also adopted the abbreviation “AMT” for its logo as a core expression of its new identity.

AMT, which currently runs 10 overseas offices including London, Singapore and Brussels, was founded in the 1950s through the merger and integration of several international law firms in Japan. In December 2020, the firm launched a foreign law joint enterprise with the appointment as partners of designated registered foreign lawyers qualified in the US, the UK and mainland China.
