Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher has deepened its global finance practice bench with Daniel Abercromby joining as a partner in Hong Kong from White & Case.

Abercromby was most recently a Hong Kong-based partner in the Asia debt finance and restructuring practice at White & Case, and served as a joint leader of the firm’s Asia sponsor finance practice.

Doug Horowitz, co-chair of the global finance practice group, said: “Our group is expanding to meet the needs of clients internationally. He brings a wealth of experience across a range of private capital financings in Asia from private equity and digital infrastructure to private credit and special situations financings.”

Abercromby started his legal career as a solicitor at Mayne Wetherell in Auckland in 2006 and joined Allen & Overy in 2008 where he practised as a senior associate. Before his move to White & Case as a partner in 2020, he had worked as a partner leading Weil, Gotshal & Manges’ banking and finance practice in Asia and a partner in Kirkland & Ellis’ debt finance team.

The Hong Kong-based finance partner has expertise in leveraged and acquisition financings, direct lending transactions and special situations investments, advising clients including private equity funds on financings across Southeast Asia, Greater China and other parts of Asia.

Gibson Dunn has been expanding its lawyer headcount in several practice areas in Asia in recent years, having added former Deutsche Bank litigation and regulatory enforcement head Jocelyn Williams as of counsel in Hong Kong in February.
